The Girlfriends C.A.R.E Event was held on February 4th, 2006 in Snowmass Village, Colorado at 6:00 P.M.  Three very caring and charming ladies, Dee, Chris and Mary were the hostesses for the event.  It was held at Mary’s beautiful townhome at Snowmass Village.

Dee, Chris and Mary wanted to do something special for children with cancer in Colorado.  They had searched out web sites and came to Zac’s Legacy Foundation’s web site and read that Zac was Zac Carlson.  Dee was married to Chuck Carlson and he passed away 3 years ago from cancer.  They insisted on John Carlson and others from the Foundation coming to their first group gathering.  They would be having each girlfriend bring an item and then the others would bid on the items and the funds collected would come to Zac’s Legacy Foundation.

John Carlson, Zac’s daddy, Carole Carlson, Zac’s grandma, Skip and Ida Carlson, Zac’s cousins made the trip to Snowmass Village, not knowing what to expect, but delighted in the caring and kindness the ladies shared with the Carlson’s and fully supporting the mission of the Zac’s Legacy Foundation.  Cancer has been very prevalent in the area of Aspen and Snowmass, as was shared while visiting with some of the group.  Two of the ladies had recently lost their husbands to cancer and another’s husband was terminally ill with cancer.  It was very touching because we could relate to the loss and hurt that those left behind experience from a family member having cancer.

They raised over $4,000.00 for this first time event.  What a pleasure to meet and share with these ladies that care.  A special thank you to all that attended.
